A few words from our founder:

Hello! My name is Lianna, I am the founder and former president of the American Medical Women’s Association at the University of Kansas (KU AMWA). I am a pre-medical student, majoring in Human Biology with a minor in Journalism.

I am very proud of everything we have accomplished as a branch so far. Receiving our national and university recognition meant we would become the first pre-medical branch of the American Medical Women’s Association in the state of Kansas, with over 180 members in our founding membership.

I hope you all can see the large impact KU AMWA has on the University of Kansas and beyond. We are so grateful for our members, leaders, and supporters and we look forward to contribute to the development of our community through the values of AMWA.

Take care,

Lianna

"My favorite thing about AMWA is being surrounded by like minded people who are always willing to build each other up. AMWA taught me that the community of women in health care is much larger and stronger than I originally thought. If I had to convince someone to join AMWA I would tell them that it is an organization that not only positively impacts their future professional life but is also a great outlet for building friendships with likeminded people you will be surrounded by throughout college!" - Delany, Merchandise Chair, Member

"My favorite thing about AMWA is the aspect of women supporting women. AMWA has never felt like a competition between members but instead is helping boost each other up. AMWA has taught me to not always be as worried about getting everything done in four years. College is hard enough with classes, having a job on top of classes can be far too difficult for many people to handle. AWMA is an amazing way to meet people who are as excited and motivated about their career path as you are. I joined AMWA because i wanted to be supported in an overwhelming career path. there are so many tips and tricks shared within AMWA that make my life easier. AMWA gives members great exposure to people who have different careers which helps us see what the real world of medicine looks like!" - Rachel, Treasurer, Member

"My favorite thing about AMWA is getting to meet other women who share similar goals as me. All members of AMWA support one another and want each other to succeed. AMWA has taught me more about the various roles and responsibilities in the healthcare field. AMWA is an amazing club that supports all of its members by inviting doctors and medical professionals to speak about their experiences and by offering hands-on experience in the medical field through clinical workshops!" - Grace, Social Media Co-Chair, Member

"My favorite thing about AMWA is getting to learn so much more about attending a professional school from people that have already experienced it or are currently in a graduate program! I love that AMWA brings together women that all have a similar goal in mind of what they want their life to look like! AMWA has taught me that there are so many others out there that are very passionate about what they want in life. Becoming a member of AMWA won't just help you in your undergraduate years; it can truly impact the rest of your life because of the connections you make with those you surround yourself with" - Jaiden, Social Media Chair, Member
